Hourly Workers: The Economy’s Backbone, Not America’s “Poor Man”
On the heels of last week’s Employee Appreciation Day, our CEO Peter Harrison shared his thoughts on the misconceptions of the hourly worker and their impressive impact on our economy:
“Despite the value hourly work creates, and despite the impact these workers have on our everyday lives, they are still simply seen to some as “the poor man.” They are not seen for who they are: the young woman working as a sales associate at the mall as she saves to buy her first car; the 75 year old grandfather bagging groceries at the store for extra spending cash during retirement; the high school or college student paying their way through school as a barista; or the middle aged single mom who has been a waitress all her life simply because she loves helping people.”
