A brief history of Franchise Appreciation Day
This Labor Day weekend, various locations all over the country will be taking part in Franchise Appreciation Day. Started by the social media marketing firm Sociallybuzz, Franchise Appreciation Day give franchises the opportunity to say thanks to their customers while giving those customers the chance to learn more about their local franchises and the contributions they make year-round.
“Franchises support local schools, the community and so much more,” said Andre Kay, co-founder and CEO of Sociallybuzz. The company works with franchises to develop social media campaigns and bridge the gap between businesses and customers.
“We want to educate consumers about how franchises connect with the community,” Kay explained.
Since it first started in 2011, Franchise Appreciation Day has been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine as well as the Brazilian publication of Entrepreneur Magazine. The following year, Nevada and Maryland both declared Franchise Appreciation Day a statewide holiday. Kay estimates that nearly 1,000 locations have participated since the day was first introduced and hopes recognition of the annual event continues to grow.
“We want everyone involved so they can see the value of the day,” Kay said. “We want to keep it alive and keep on pushing it.”
Participating franchises are encouraged to offer special discounts and giveaways, and use various social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare, to spread the word about the event. Snagajob is an official supporter of Franchise Appreciation Day and we’ve been gearing up the entire month of August by visiting some of our own favorite franchises and sharing the love on our official Twitter page. Make sure to check out our blog the last week in August for even more franchise appreciation.
