10 seasonal hiring tips for employers
Hiring seasonal employees doesn’t have to be an arduous task. With the right know-how, a little planning and the perfect tools, you can go from #stressed to #blessed in no time! Check out some of our favorite tips for hiring here:
1. Know what you want.
Before embarking on your hiring season, make sure that you and your team have a solid idea of who you need and what you need them to do. If everyone has a clear view, then your new hires will reflect that solid planning.
2. Revisit your job descriptions.
If you generally hire for the same types of positions each season, you’ll probably reuse job descriptions to save time. Be sure to review these before posting to ensure the information is accurate and up to date—errors and inconsistencies can attract the wrong types of applicants.
3. Use the right tools.
Once you’ve identified your ideal candidates, make sure your job description reaches them where they are. This can mean using social media or an online hiring platform that matches employers with qualified local job-seekers. 4. Reward loyalty.

7. Be competitive.
Remember that you aren’t the only business hiring seasonal employees —make sure you’re upfront about what makes your place the best fit for applicants.
8. Be social.
According to a recent study on social media, employer branding and talent acquisition draws an important correlation between a brand’s social presence and the number of people who apply for jobs with the company. If you have a healthy and positive social presence, you are that much more attractive to higher-quality job-seekers.
9. Be consistent.
Make sure your recruiting processes are consistent across the board. Save your team time by having a process for interviewing, call-backs and onboarding so hiring is as seamless as possible.
10. Mind the gaps.
Once you feel comfortable with your seasonal team, ensure you have a system of checks and balances in place to help you and other team members track the progress of your new hires, as well as keep watch for red flags that might indicate a need for replacement.
